Osteoconduction vs biodegradation

The bioceramics granules have been implanted in the lower extremity of the femur in rabbit. The results after 12 weeks show the growth of a significant quantity of bone tissues into the ceramic pores (A). A direct contact is formed at the interface between the bioceramic and the new bone formation (B). The new bone formation and the rate of the material biodegradation increase with time.
